PM to lay foundation for six-laning of Panipat highway project

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will today lay the foundation stone for six-laning of 10 km stretch of the National Highway one (NH-1) running through Panipat in Haryana.
Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda along with other ministers will be present on the occasion. Dr Singh will also address a public meeting on the occasion. Security men have been posted on the spot.
6-lane stretch for Surat-Vadodara

Those driving on the stretch of National Highway no 8 between Surat and Vadodara are in for some good news, though not in the near future.
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to convert it to a six-lane road from the existing four-lane road in view of the increasing traffic on this stretch, which makes driving on it a pain in the neck.
Rs 550-crore road project for L&T

Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T), bagged its first annuity-based road project — valued at Rs 550 crore from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
The project involves four-laning of the 76-km Palanpur and Swaroopgunj stretch located on the East-West Corridor on NH-14, linking Gujarat and Rajasthan. Secured against international competitive bidding, the order will be executed by L&T’s Engineering Construction & Contracts (ECC) Division in 30 months.
NHAI signs Rs 490-cr pacts with Reliance Energy-promoted SPVs

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Monday signed two concession agreements with Reliance Energy Ltd-promoted special purpose vehicles (SPVs) to four-lane two national highway sections on NH-7 in Tamil Nadu on Build-Operate-Transfer basis.
Both the projects fall on the North-South Corridor under National Highways Development Project – Phase II.
The agreements were signed by NHAI with NK Toll Road Ltd and DS Toll Road Ltd (SPVs formed by Reliance Energy Ltd) in the presence of Mr Santosh Nautiyal, Chairman, NHAI and Mr JP Chalasani , Director-Business Development, Reliance Energy, said a release. Under the first agreement, the four-laning of the 33.5-km long, high-traffic density corridor of Namakkal-Karur Section of NH – 7 on BOT basis is expected to be completed in 30 months at a cost of Rs 205.6 crore.
